Victoria Place was the creation of Fred Reynolds, a young Bobcaygeon businessman who, while visiting Florida, saw his first self-contained community designed for seniors. He liked what he saw, but thought he could do better right in his own backyard. He came home, bought a large, marginal farm on the west shore of Pigeon Lake just south of Bobcaygeon and went to work. By 1979 he had completed Phase 1 of his two-phase dream community and had sold nearly all the lots in the original plan. All homes were originally sold to buyers over 55, most of who were retired or in the process of retiring.
