The great debate in Winter-Scaping is whether to go all natural or to glitz it up.  It’s fun to have sparkly accents for the holidays, but winter pots (hanging baskets, window boxes, patio pots and the like) will be part of your décor from November to March.  Do you want lime green sparkly pine cones in your pots around Valentine’s Day?  Some say yes, some say no.

Your answer will depend on the style of your home and your personal style.  Some homes lend themselves to more natural arrangements (county homes or Victorian style) while newer homes or 1960’s bungalows are suited to modern, and possibly glitzy, arrangements.

If you choose to accent your basic pots of greenery with a traditional or natural style, you will want to add lots of pine cones.  Pine cones come in many sizes.  Medium sized ones can be found locally, maybe in your own…
