Water continues to rise on Gull River Watershed – Flooding in Kawartha Lakes

Flood update – 9:00am April 26
The City of Kawartha Lakes Emergency Control Group will be meeting this morning at 10:00am.

The Burnt River flooding situation is moving into the recovery phase. Many roads in that are expected to be reopened today after inspections are completed. Roads in the Black River area will likely remain closed until Monday to allow them to dry out. An up-to-date list of road closures is available on the city’s website.

Concerns remain over the Gull River watershed and an MNR Flood Warning remains in effect. The Kawartha Region Conservation Authority Flood Warning is also in effect for the shoreline areas of Balsam, Cameron, Sturgeon and Pigeon Lakes. Shoreline residents are advised to take precautions to protect themselves and their property and be prepared to evacuate should the water levels continue to rise.

Seasonal residents returning this weekend are encouraged to check the list of road closures to ensure their property is accessible. Please use extreme caution when in the flood affected areas.
